This is a very short version, and if you want to know more, go to the Internet etc.
This howto is without any guarantee, and you may use it on your own responsibility only.
There may be errors, but I do not want to use too much time to write this minihowto.
To check specific words or items you may try to Search in: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page/ or http://www.google.com/

Kalarm is a personal alarm
program to give alarms, or send e-mails at selected times.
I will give some examples of how to set alarms.
To set an alarm for "2007-12-04" choose "K-menu - Utilities - Kalarm" (or left click
on the Kalarm icon
on the panel) and the Kalarm main window opens -
see below

Back to the Index
Click on the "New" icon
(see above) and the set alarm dialog window opens (see below)

Back to the Index
Then click on the black downward pointing triangle
to open the date selection dialog (see below)

Click on the date of choice "4" - you change month/year by clicking on the grey triangles
etc. (see above)
Back to the Index
To set the alarm to any time of the day, mark the "Any time" square
(note the time is then greyed out
) - see below

Back to the Index
Mark the "Text" option
and you can insert the text you want to be shown in the alarm, in the big white square - (see above)
To check how the alarm will show up, click on the "Try" button (see above)
->
Click on the "Close" button
to switch of the alarm.
To set an alarm at a specific hour follow above description, but instead of "Any time" set the time in the time pane
- you change the time by
clicking on any of the black triangles (to change the time faster hold the shift button down).
Then
the alarm will show at the pre set date -and time - if you boot your
computer after the set alarm time, the alarm will show up immediately
after you log in.
To get information about any of the other options, click with the left mouse cursor on the "question mark"
in the upper right corner of the dialog, and
the
mouse cursor change into a "question mark", then point this on the
item you want to see, and then click the left mouse button.
You can also get a more comprehensive help by clicking "F1" in the Kalarm main window.
To send an e-mail as an alarm,
choose the e-mail option (see below)
Back to the Index

Fill
in as shown above (I have marked in with black color) - use the same
principle as shown above to fill "Date" and "Time" or "Any time" - and
then click "OK".
Then an e-mail will be sent to the addres you
have inserted (will typical be your own e-mail address), but please
note, that the computer must be running
at the time for the e-mail to be sent.
If
you want Kalarm to also speak the inserted alarm text, you should verify that the
following 3 packages are installed (an easy way is to use
synaptic):
kttsd - festival - festvox-kallpc8k (or another of the "festvox*" packages).
