Super Grub Disk version 0.9588 Mini Howto for linux. (I am using ubuntu 7.04 and kde)  :-)      Back to Main Page

This is a very short version, and if you want to know more, go to the Internet etc.

This howto is without any guarantee, and you may use it on your own responsibility only.

There may be errors, but I do not want to use too much time to  write this howto.

To check specific words you may try: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page  (search).

Super Grub Disk (SGD) is a tool you can use, if your Linux distribution will not start (the boot loader menu does not show up as normal).

(You can use it even if both windows and linux is installed on the same harddisk).

You can download the SGD iso from here - click (see my "download iso howto" - for how to do).

To use SGD, start the computer - at beep press the "Pause" button - open the cd slot - insert the SGD cd - close again - then press enter:

Choose "English Super Grub Disk" - enter.

At "[Hit return to continue]" - press enter.

At Pause. Press a key - "p" (for example).

At Pause. Press a key - "p" (for example).

Choose Gnu/Linux (use down arrow) - enter (will look something like below):

Choose Gnu/Linux - use down arrow - then press enter

At Pause. Press a key - "s" (for example):

Choose "Fix Boot of Gnu/Linux (Grub)" (use down arrow) - enter (should look something like below):

Choose "Fix Boot of Gnu/Linux (Grub)" - use down arrow - enter

Now SGD should fix your problem automatic (I am not sure about what the rest looks like),so your system again will work normal - if not, ask an

expert -or reinstall.

To reboot press: "Ctrl+Alt+Del", and your computer should restart (remember to remove the SGD cd).
